Sweden vs Switzerland: Who will make the cut?

Sweden vs Switzerland will be a close one maybe even ending in penalties. These two teams have been clinical in their group stage matches and they did enough to qualify. The Swedes have been playing some mind games leading to this match targeting some of Switzerland’s star players. During a presser one of Sweden’s players targeted Granit Xhaka for his numerous send offs in the English Premier League where he plays for Arsenal. The player stated that they would pressure him enough to get him to commit a serious foul. All this is just part of a ploy to get into the minds of the Swiss players but this are simply ploys.

Sweden vs Switzerland will be their first meet up at a major tournament and where else but the 2018 World Cup. This match will be an important one for the two teams as both of them have monkeys on their backs when it comes to the World Cup. Sweden last got to the the round of 16 24 years ago in the 1994 World Cup and Switzerland reached the quarter final stage last in 1954. Whoever makes it through to the next stage of the tournament will have achieved a huge milestone. These two teams have met 98 times before and the Swiss have won 11 games and the Swedes won 10 games, which is a balanced outcome.

Their past meetings have gone to prove that these two teams are equally competitive and we can expect an interesting match. Switzerland has a dynamic offensive game and we will expect to see this very early on in this match. Sweden on the other hand has a defensive stance but will attack when the opportunity presents itself. Sweden will have to take risks in this match or they will be playing catch up and that is not a comfortable place to be.

This 2018 World Cup has been a thing of beauty and full of surprises at every turn, and i believe this match will have us at the edge of our sits until the final whistle is blown. As for Sweden vs Switzerland it is anyone’s game and that is what makes this one interesting.
